Pretty Watercolour Nails for Spring

watercolour_nails

Today I declared Spring on my nails! I am now totally sick of being ill and feeling like it's still winter. So I decided I was going to at least pretend it was spring when I looked at my nails!

I decided to pick out two shades that instantly make me think of spring when put together - a bright fuchsia and a pastel but bright turquoise using China Glaze Wicked Style and Color Club Blue-Ming and I also picked out a lighter pink with Models Own Strawberry Tart which is such a lovely pastel shade. I actually used two similar shades for some Cherry Blossom nail art last year (here) and loved the effect. They are just two colours that go really nicely together.

I also decided to use a non-messy watercolour technique as it always looks so pretty. There are quite a few ways to achieve a watercolour effect on the nails so I think I will do a post this coming week on 3 ways you can do it without creating a mess! I can tell you however that the technique I used here was just using a plastic sandwich bag over my nails to smooch all the colours together. Really so simple, but I will explain it better with a tutorial and photos when I write the post on watercolour nails and try out some other colour combinations.

On spring related subjects I also have my Spring/Summer Nail Edit 2013 to do, which I'm really looking forward to, as I love picking out the shades and deciding on the back drops. You can see my last Autumn/Winter Nail Edit here. Plus quite a few spring makeup posts will be coming up in April!

Fingers crossed the Spring weather will appear soon!

Would love to know what your favourite spring nail polishes are.

Fee xo.

Hi!
Your nails look gorgeous! Quick question about the models own fruit pastel collection. My partner HATES the smell of nail polish and complains that it gives him a head ache even hours after I've applied it! So I hardly ever paint my nails :( Does the fruity smell totally get rid of the horrible nail polish smell or is it just fruity on top of the polishy smell?

Thanks!
