Highstreet Makeup Brands I Haven't Tried!

In the last 9 years that I've been buying makeup I've tried a lot and it's been mainly high street! So I thought it would be interesting to see which brands I've not actually tried and why that is the case!

loreal

L'Oreal
I never even tried Elnett can you believe! Yes, this is a big one... I mean L'oreal is pretty huge and from looking online they do some pretty good products that many people love. However they just don't appeal to me especially when they come out with very gimmicky products that you apply with a roller or suggest a million lashes! It just seems a brand focused on being a huge brand that doesn't offer anything that outside the box or fun.

rthrhy

Prestige
Pristige are like No7 but with the free £5 vouchers to lure you in! The brand doesn't jump out at me, however I do like the look of the baked mineral products and My Longest Lashes Mascara - just not enough to make a purchase though! Maybe it's a lack of marketing and they just don't have much oomph to them that draws you in. Also I find it hard to trust any brand that offers Loose Shimmering eyeshadow dust with a dipper/wand!

tu5t

Frontcover
The main focus of the brand seems to be there eye kits that contain lots of different baked eye shadows that you can actually take out and put into a smaller palette of five, which is a very good idea. But for me personally this falls into the 'Christmas gift' category and I was actually tempted to purchase one of the kits last Christmas. The size of the product seems very in-practical but the products inside do seem of good quality. So I can't make my mind up really! Would love to know from anyone that owns one of the sets how they have gotten on with it.

MISSSPORTY

Miss Sporty
I think I basically missed the train for this when it first came out and was at the wrong age for it! I'm guessing the products will be similar to that of Natural Collection - however at least Natural Collection has simple packaging and is quite a subtle but cheap brand. Miss Sporty on the other hand, has a pretty rubbish brand name, quite loud packaging and overall just doesn't look that great as a stand which is why I've never really even looked at the products. However I've going to actually look next time I'm out shopping and try to pick up a few products that don't seem as "Miss Sporty" if I can!

Une

Une
Une is the first organic ecocert makeup range on the high street and in theory by now someone like me that is concerns by different chemicals in makeup products should have purchase quite a few items from them but sadly I'm still at zero. Is there a reason? Kind of but not really that much of a reason! The first issue I have with this range is the price - it stepped out onto the market and priced itself very similar to most organic makeup brands online with single eye shadows being priced at just over £9 and no foundation for less than £12.50. But I think the main factor is the tag line of 'natural beauty' natural looking makeup is good but a whole brand of natural coloured shades is a bit bland and that's what I see when I look at the concession, it's just a bit 'meh' and something I can pass on.

H Tropic

Hawaiian Tropic
This is a brand that has been around for a long time but for me it seems a brand that doesn't look that much better than any other in the sun care market and just one that has tapped into the holiday vibe that people get into when going on holiday or enjoying the sun. All the products do smell good but who would buy an after sun moisturizer for £10.20 or an SPF25 lipgloss for £7.45.

face boutique

Face Boutique
I actually love the look of the packaging with the illustrations by Stina Persson and bottle shapes but it just comes across as one of those brands that has been probably created by a giant of a company to purely make money and not build up and type of loyal user or even add onto the range. I like to see a brand develop and grow and bring out new products, even bring out new ranges and as sad as it sounds actually have a brand identity. But since this brand started it has stayed the same and that's just not enough for me. A brand that looks quirky and unique but sadly just isn't!

I'm sure these aren't all the high street brands I have yet to try but they are definitely the ones that stand out to me! Would love to know which makeup brands you have yet to buy from and why.

PS. You may have to ignore the grammar and spelling as this was wrote on zero hours sleep!

I did a post around xmas time on my Front Cover to go set - mainly swatches.
I admit it is a big bulky set so im glad it has the little portable palette. The shadows are a bit hit and miss, some are really pigmented, others arent. If im honest I havent used it as much as I should have.
Maybe Ill start trying to use it more often now youve reminded me I actually own it! :-)

L'Oreal doesn't appeal to me either, I particularly hate that all their eyeshadows and blushes HAVE to include a dinky little brush! As if anyone uses them, really...

I have a FrontCover pigment eyeshadows set i got at Christmas; haven't used it as much as I should I guess! I may try to use it more now!

I've only tried Miss Sporty nail polishes and I have an almost run out lipstick from last year I wear a lot. The nail polishes are pretty good but I'd only buy more if they had the 2 for £2.99 special and not pay £2.99 each for them (the bottles are small but the nail polish is pretty good) it lasts 3 days or so.

I usually buy L'Oreal and I love the Elnett hairspray I just ran out of the handbag size the other day so I picked up a new one, it is the best hairspray I've ever tried. I think L'Oreal make good haircare and skincare products but I don't tend to buy their makeup. In fact I don't have any L'Oreal makeup in the way of an eyeshadow or lipstick but I have 3 L'Oreal mascaras.

The brand I next want to try is BeautyUK. Is that high street? I just bought my first Sleek palette online because I don't live near a big Superdrug. I got the Monaco i-Divine I can't wait to use it.
When I first got into make up, I would only buy Miss Sporty products - haha, oh the shame!

well, i love prestige total intensity eyeliner, it is one of the best i have tired. also, it was very popular amoungst the chinese ladies. it used to be sold out every time when they are doing 3 for 2 offers.

also, i agreed with you with frontcover, the size is not very well thought and i dont like the packaging...

and for une, its soso, with that price, i rather flew some everyday mineral or other mineral brand from the states.

at last, i dont like the name of miss sporty too, eeven when i was 14, i wont buy stuff from there...

flew, this is my longest comment i have made. lol
I didn't even know Hawaiian Tropic and Face Boutique existed! Plus I never realised I've never tried anything L'oreal either until I read this post >< I've only ever owned a Miss Sporty nail varnish, but that was because it came free with a magazine.. I feel like the packaging aims it at younger ages.. like how I used to see Collection 2000 - that's changed though, and I feel like they are becoming more expensive and 'up market'. I received a Front Cover cosmetics palette for Christmas last year and they're okay.. it is annoying that they are set into the box and you can't remove them though.. I haven't even reached for them since blogging about it, and I feel like their loose eye shadows can get messy Xx
You *have* to try the XXLong mascara from Miss Sporty. It's absolutely amazing - best one I've ever tried!
Don't be fooled by the cheap looking packaging Miss sporty is good. Many of their products I have yet to try as I have my go to brands for foundation, facepowder and lipstick. However they are my go to brand for liquid eyeliner in black. Swear by it as it is cheap lasts me a long time and more than does the job. It lasts all day. I love their mascara as well, better than many more expensive brands I have tried same goes for the nail varnish. I really can not say enough to ignore the packaging and look at the colours themselves.
Front Cover are good, but like you I can only ever justify buying them at Christmas. Especially when Boots do a three for two :) I have quite a few things by them that I've purchased around December time and one of the bigger eye pallets, I've had for ages. They're definitely fun to play with :) x
a very interesting idea for a post, made me think of brands that i've not tried too!

Heya Fee! I have a Frontcover palette that I picked up at Xmas last year in Boots. Have to say I DO love it :) There are some really gorguz highlighter shades as well as some stunningly pigmented ones too so you can create quite a lot of looks. I love how they give you some ideas/looks to try in the palette when you need some inspiration :) May do a post on eyeshadow palettes actually! :)

Love Aysh xoxo
Ive tried L'oreal amazingly enough as Im not really a fan, although I am liking their insanely named Million Lashes mascara atm. Other than that I havent tried any of those brands either... Some just don't appeal to me, Miss Sporty for example screams pre-teen (no offence)

xx
I agree about L'Oreal, I have absolutely no interest in their products. Prestige do brilliant mascaras though, worth a try
You should def try the L'Oreal mascaras- they are my absolute faves next to MaxFactor ones!
I first liked Prestige because of their mineral pressed mineral make up and i go crazy for mineral make up and if its pressed, even better. I cant wait to use Hawaiian Tropic on my holiday, it seems worth it but only when its BOGOF :) x
miss sporty do really good nail varnish!! you should give it a try.

AMAZING post. I can only relate to few brands you've mentioned.

Miss Sporty - it was HUGE for me when I was in school/high school. I even remember that I painted my nails with one of its nail polishes for my Prom Night (and I think it's still somewhere hidden in my home, unless my mum throw it out). I also had lip glosses, but compared to my first Revlon my dad bought me not so long after - I can only say that these were disappointment - they stayed for a really short time (but smelled nice at least).

L'Oreal - I think I owned only one or none products of this brand, that's because they really test bad on animals and I am totally against it.

An interesting post - Miss Sporty cosmetics are made by the manufacturers who make Rimmel so you really should check them out, the lipgloss and the nail polish are cute and some of the mascaras are good too. Front Cover pallettes are lovely and the pigmentation in their shadows are beautiful. L'Oreal products are fantastic for the price - you should definetley check out Glam Shines and their eyeshadows are beautiful - especially the new Infalliable ones. They also don't test on animals and haven't since the 1980's :)
the prestige loose eye shadows with dippers are amazing!!!!!!! they are really pigmented and are actually quite easy to apply :) I used to use my one all the time until i lost it :/ The miss sporty nail varnishes are also really good and really cheap their colours are amazing :D
Miss Sporty has pretty amazing polishes. They last on my nails 7-10 days with base and top coat. I love them and have 10 of them in my collection.
