A Week of Pretty - The Detail of Shelving

In the past week I've started a few new interior design projects in my home - mainly some floating shelves in my bedroom alcoves (above) which I bought from Ikea for only £3.99 each in the sale! So now they are up I'm able to un-box all my extra ornaments that I've been storing in the loft for the last year.

But it really isn't as simple as plonking them down and it looking good... which is why I've been looking for inspiration on all different interior design sites (especially Lonny and Made By Girl).

After painting the alcoves and finding some miniature designer chairs, my next project is to create a monster sized upholstered headboard!

I always struggle with things like this - I end up rearranging my little ornaments hundreds of times until I'm finally happy :)
great pictures for inspiration - definately going to be helpful when I start on the spare bedroom next week!! x

I love interior design and can't wait to design my own house someday. :) The creative shelves I know are made of books: take big fat hardcover book, cut some pages inside and attach it to shelf - so the book acts as the shelf itself and it looks like the books have no support. ;) X

Ahhh yes I have seem them shelves in Habitat... such a good idea and they look so good! Very clever.

It really is so much fun coming up with ideas and seeing a project develop from start to finish when you have your own home :)

Yes I want one like that too. Though as they seem a bit pricey per character I've thinking of making some of my own out of the MDF I'll have left over from the headboard I'm making!

I'm trying to turn our second bedroom into a sort of dressing room for me so love some of these ideas. I was pleased when we moved in as we have similar floating shelves in our alcoves :-)
