Makeup I Want But Can't Have!

Non UK makeup brands

Over the past two years that I have been blogging it has come to my attention time & time again how lucky we are in the UK when it comes to the beauty industry. So many international readers tell me how their magazines never contain makeup freebies, how the price of makeup is so steep in their country and how basically the UK has a much wider range of brands available in so many different shops.

And I have to agree! My local Tesco now not only stocks high street makeup brands but also high-end, international and niche brands such as YSL, Diego Dalla Palma and Natio. Also Boots stores are getting even bigger and better! Plus KIKO finally arrived to the UK last year in Westfield, London and online. So we are definitely spoilt in the UK... however we all want things we cannot have which is why I always find myself lusting after brands and products that aren't available here in the UK!

So here is what my inner spoilt makeup brat is wishing the UK would offer...

Essense makeup

Essense Cosmetics
Essense is probably the one brand I would LOVE to see in the UK. It is a German make-up brand but it is available all over Europe (with most things around the 2-3 euros mark) and also now in Ulta and other stores in the U.S (again nothing over $4 it seems). So if the brand did come to the UK it would hopefully be a very cheap range... but also a very fun and good quality range. I do own a few products already from Essense from doing makeup swaps and from friends and all of the products I have been really pleased with.

What I love about Essense is the collections they bring out are always interesting and fun, such as the Essense Fruity Collection which consisted of an amazing fruit scented top coat and some amazing nail polishes for only €1,79 each! Essense also seem to have the products that I think the UK need more of, such as cream/souffle blushers, lip crayons and eyeshadow mousses.

Sephora sets

Sephora Combination Gift Sets
I am so happy to be seeing more mini sized gift sets in the UK (I'm talking Benefit sets like this from Boots and also mini Essie & OPI sets). However Boots, Debenhams, Selfridges and all the rest really haven't advanced from these unlike gift sets I have seen in America, in particular Sephora. I'm talking mixed gift sets that contain a range of deluxe mini products from different high end brands! Take Sephoria Favourites In The Glow set for example which contains 9 mini products from brands such as Nars, Laura Mercier, Tarte, Too Faced, Lorac, Benefit for only $44 which is around £27.

I think it I ever shopped in Sephora I would be in beauty heaven with gift sets like these available! Boots you need to get on this ASAP?!

ELF HD Blush

ELF Products
We of course have e.l.f cosmetics online in the UK but firstly I would like actually makeup stands like in Target and Walgreens in the U.S. I don't want much do I! Then secondly I think we 100% need the new ELF HD Blushers. I have seen a few swatches and reviews of these and they look so pigmented and so little is needed. Also whilst lusting after these blushes on a U.S site I spotted the new Disney Villains Collection that ELF have brought out - again why don't we have these? Just why!

Products like the HD Blush and some of the e.l.f gift sets that have only been available to the U.S really would just sell out in the UK.

Tarte

Tarte Cosmetics
Last but not least a brand that I don't know too much about but only gained knowledge of through their award winning  Amazonian clay 12-hour blushers - a product that always receives A* reviews from makeup 'gurus' on YouTube. The brand really appeals to me because of their shade selections and packaging and of course I like the natural aspect to the products.

The Glamazon lipsticks and the Smoulder Eyes Collector's set just look amazing. I could definitely see large Boots stocking these in the future... well my fingers and toes are crossed!

If you live in the UK what products/brand would you like to see?

Also I would really love to hear from my international readers on what UK brands you would like to try!

Fee xo.

I agree completely!
And how funny I just got the HD blushes from Ebay at about £5 each. We'll see if they are that good when I get them.

I agree with you on how UK already has alot of brands readily available to us. Your local tesco stocks YSL? my one really needs to step up to that soon because they still only just do their own branded make-up at the moment. The E.L.F HD blushers looks so good and i really want to get my hands on those soon, although i'm not too sure when it will be available to us :)

I've been lusting after Tarte and Sephora mixed sets for ages! The Sephora sets seem such good value, I'm so jealous! :( x
Pretty much all the things you've listed, Fee! I also get very annoyed with high street ranges' US only products - Rimmel's nail polishes, Maybelline's Bouncy blushes and Color Tattoo shades, L'Oreal's Infallible shadows - and Claire's Accessories has AMAZING polishes in the US! Claire's and Rimmel particularly smart because they're UK ranges! That's just RUDE.

But I've always coveted Essence and miss Sephora so much.

And I didn't know the ELF blushes existed until now, and I'm coveting those unequitedly now - so thanks for that ;)

Totally agree about the Essence cosmetics - I've a few of their products and all have been great quality so far! So want those ELF blushes as well - they look amazing, maybe if we pester ELF UK enough they'll start to stock them lol!
I would love to see Essence and Tarte in the UK. Hopefully they'll hear our pleas and decide to sell here soon :)
I'm really just drooling over the Sephora Favorites! all I can do is sigh....
I remember Sephora being in Milton Keynes when I was a teenager and it was amazing! Gutted that I can't get hold of it easily in the UK anymore - even living in London.
I want to try the hd blushes and villian books so bad, I can't wait until they come to the UK.
I really want to try tarte too, but we are lucky to have such a variet in the UK I can't complain too much.

Wow, I guess it'd be easier to list the brands that we have up here in Finland. Fortunately there are some decent places to shop online, but it's not quite the same choosing right shades and stuff. I would really really really like Illamasqua to pop up a store or a counter somewhere in here or even nearby, Sweden would be fine too. At the moment the closest one is in Germany I think.

I tried to locate a Sephora in the UK ( as I was planning a weekend dedicated to some serious cosmetics hunt ), but came up with nothing. What's the story? You've had it there in the past? What happened?
ever since i found out that those sephora favourites box sets existed, i've been lusting after them - theyre such amazing value for money! http://cloudsandcuticleoil.blogspot.co.uk/

Hi :) I'm from Northern Ireland and we (rather randomly) stock essence in MediCare pharmacies (and other just local pharmacies). So you might get lucky and find it in a chemist one day! :)

I love this post and your christmas gift posts, I want the disney villian pallettes too!
I'd fall over myself just for some wet and wild nail polishes, they seem to have some really pretty shades right now. And its not just the makeup that i'm jealous of i'd also love Bath and body works over here. I recently did a post on one of their candles that i got on ebay, i love it, and i'd really like to try more!
The UK actually had it all almost!
You should come and see Greece, we have got almost nothing but some European brands
I live in Canada and I've been makeup shopping in both the US and the UK and I think the UK has it much better. Sure high end stuff is marked up but you guys have better cheaper brands than in the US. Most American drugstore makeup isn't that great. I wish we had Sleek, Barry M, and MUA here but I just order it all online.
Those ELF HD blushes look absolutely amazing. I would love to be able to go to a shop and browse their range...don't mind online shopping but its so hard to accurately judge the colours!!
UK is very good, but prices here compared to US are still very expensive. I am glad that we finally have Victoria's Secret as I love their body sprays, but no way am I paying that much for them here! Whether I pay £30 for 5 bottles or $30 = £18! is a massive difference.

I also really adore Bath and Body Works, but again, they would be so over-priced in UK that I would never afford them.
All of them! I didn't even know about the HD e.l.f. blushes, so now I have a yen for those too! Thanks, enabler! Hehehe. xx
Tarte are especially annoying because if you go on their website it actually states that they're not looking for new distributors at the moment! So they have no intention (as far as we know) of selling abroad. Those amazonian clay blushes are just awesome, really gorgeous. There was ONE set once in Debenhams that had a decent mix of products and was about £26, I was so excited but haven't seen anything like that since.
