With more frequent warmer days lately I have totally changed up my lipstick wardrobe to match the weather. Out with too many nudes and berry shades and in with perfect pinks and glossy finishes.
Here are 5 lip products that I think stand out from the crowd this spring that won't break the bank and can be found easily on the high street!
Swatches from top to bottom - NYC Applelicious Lip Balm in Applelicious Pink, Collection 2000 Deluxe Lipstick in Tallulah, Models Own Lip Stix in Beauty Blush, Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya and Carmex Moisture Plus Lip Balm in Pink Sheer Tint. |
NYC Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm in Applelicious Pink
£2.49 - Superdrug here
NYC is a bit of a hidden gem of a brand I feel, with certain stand out products that are amazing quality and so cheap. The Applelicious range is one of those amazing gems with a choice of 4 tinted lip balms for only £2.49. Applelicious Pink come spring/summer is my favourite shade to use and as you can see it's quite pigmented. The lip balm glides over the lips with a nice sore apple flavour and gives a pigmented wash of colour that is non sticky and pretty weighless feeling. See lip swatches and other NYC Appleclicious Lip Balms in my makeup collection here.
Collection Deluxe Lipstick in Tallulah
£3.99 - Boots here
A new favourite here from the lovely Collection Deluxe Lipstick range. Tallulah is a beautiful neutral/muted rose pink that I feel would suit all skin tones. Perfect coverage is given in a single swipe and the texture of this is just perfect - creamy and smooth and ideal for anyone with dry lips. I also feel this has a slight plumping effect that more high end moisturising lipsticks have, which really impresses me. If you love the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick range then you will love the Collection Deluxe Lipstick range also.
Models Own Lip Stix in Beauty Blush
£5.00 - Boots here or MO website
The most perfect light pink lipstick for spring and for pale skin tones! This is a lip product I frequently pick up come spring as it's such an amazing dusky pink shade with a beautiful satin finish that makes all other lip crayons look boring. For the finish this is surprisingly soft and comfortable to wear with a slight powdery feel, but I feel this makes it last well on the lips. I love the entire Models Own Lip Stix range but this has to be a spring/summer favourite of mine.
Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya
£7.99 - Boots here
A juicy tint here for hot summer days! When it comes to Lip Butters from Revlon I feel they can be hit and miss as their sheer wash of glossy colour sometimes just look a bit pathetic for £7.99, especially then the product in the bullet looks so vibrant. However with Juicy Papaya I feel the sheer tint really works with the glossy finish to give a 'just eaten fruit' look to the lips. Just so juicy and fresh looking! Ideal for summer.
Carmex Moisture Plus Lip Balm SPF 15 in Pink
£4.29 - Superdrug here
Last but not least a lip product that just hadn't caught my attention until the lovely Tanzina from Makeup A to Z sent it me. Carmex is a brand I really associate with annoying small pot style lip balms that sting my lips but their recent tinted range is far from that. This sheer pink tint lip balm gives a subtle pink colour to lips that makes them look healthy and more full but also really does hydrate the lips, plus the lip balm benefits from an SPF 15. This is my spring/summer handbag essential right right here.
