Last week as I was re-organising my makeup, something I often do as my makeup desk gets ultra messy otherwise, I realised I had a clear favourite kind of lip product. I love lipstick in general and do hoard them, so I have every finish and type of lip product you can imagine but having my whole collection in front of me made me see a clear favourite, that I'd never really noticed before.
I've now come to realise my favourite lip formula that sounds pretty contradictory is a creamy yet matte liquid lipstick, ideally drying down to an ultra flattering velvet finish and staying put for a good few hours. I'm not asking much, am I?!
It's not often liquid lipsticks fit this bill, tending to feel too drying on the lips or looking overly matte, but below are 3 liquid lipstick ranges that are just spot on if you ask me!
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick
£7.00 ASOS
Although I'd love say NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams were amongst my favourite lip formula due to the extensive shade range (they're still pretty amazing for the price!) the Liquid Suede lip cream formula just trumps it. It's more pigmented, softer looking on the lips and beyond lightweight... and I just can't get enough of them! The initially oily feeling formula glides over the lips, quickly drying down to a comfortable matte finish that lasts well on the lips. Although the shade range isn't extensive it features some flattering shades that are worth checking out.
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick
£8.99 Feel Unique
Another lip formula I can't get enough of is the Bourjois Velvet Lipstick range which applies with a light whipped mouse type formula and instantly feels comfortable and non-drying on the lips. Drying down to a soft powdered velvet looking finish these really are flattering on the lips.
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color
£8.99 Boots
Lastly, one of my creamier feeling matte liquid lipsticks that does take some time to dry down and become matte but is totally worth the wait! Ultra long-lasting and pigmented these are an underrated product if you ask me. Available in quite a number of shades now that are universally flattering!
What do you look for in a lip product? What formula do you prefer?
I'm thinking I may have to share my liquid lipstick collection soon!
