When it comes to moisturising my face in the summer months I want something light, like, really light. But don't get me wrong, I still want it to do something. I want it to make my makeup apply smoothly, I want it to hydrate my skin well, especially after a day in the sun, and most importantly I want it to nourish my skin without clogging pores.
It's a big ask but oily/combination skin is high maintenance after all. But I think I may have found the One... and I managed to pick it up for a mere £6.00! Ticking all the boxes this is a dreamy day cream that my skin drinks up and feels all the better for it.
The moisturiser I talking about is Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel, which you may not have heard about as it's still pretty new. This simple yet wonderful moisturiser aims to boosts hydration, helps lock it all day for smooth, supple and renewed skin. It also has the benefit of being 50ml and seems to be half price for £6.00 in quite a few stores both on and offline (reduced price stockists - Amazon and Tesco), everywhere else, £12.00.
So where to start with telling you about my new favourite daily moisturiser, actually, I say 'new' but I've been loving this ever since I picked it up from Amazon 3 weeks ago. Since then I've been using this daily, mainly in the morning and without fail after showering as it soaks into the skin lightening fast and feels so refreshing.
The reason for loving Hydro Boost Water Gel is in the name. it's a very light gel formula that doesn't sit on the skin or feel oily in the least. It soaks into the skin in seconds, leaving skin feeling smoother, hydrated and that bit plumper. In fact, it reminds me of Clarins Hydra-Essential Cooling Cream Gel, which for the same amount costs £35.
I've also found it's a lovely cream to apply in the morning as the gel formula has a lovely cooling effect when applied which is perfect for someone like me that wakes up with what I could only describe as lacklustre, still asleep skin! You can really tell this cream has a high water content and knows how to hydrate the skin - which is something I think all skin types need in summer and even winter come to think of it with central heating dehydrating the skin.
If you are someone that struggles to find a light enough day cream, that doesn't clog pore or break you out or even sits on the skin feeling greasy making makeup slide off the face. Then I feel you! I also struggle with that. But trust me, this water gel formula can be used liberally if you so wish and it won't do any of the above. The only downside I can see for some is that it isn't fragrance-free... so very sensitive skin types may not want to try this. For a drugstore/high street brand to come out with something like this I really am impressed!
As for suitability, I think the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Moisturiser (£6.00 on offer) would suit normal-oily skin types from teens to late 30's. But for slightly drier skin types that want something more than a little plumping effect and with more anti-ageing properties I'd like to guess the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream Moisturiser (£6.00 on offer) would be the better option.
